How Did I Miss This?

Apparently I spent all of 2010 being mediocre. Hey, I don't feel that bad, since it was the year of death. #2010sucked

However, I do feel bad I missed the super project of Joao Brasil, where he attempted to make 365 mashups in 2010 (one for every day of the year, duh).

Trip to Brazil

Brazilian-born, London-based DJ João Brasil has flexed his skill on a few choice indie tracks that take us back to good ole Brazil. Relax and enjoy.

And then my day got better.

One of our very first posts was about the amazing song Spoiled Boy by 80kidz (ft. Lovefoxxx). For a full 2 weeks it was stuck in my head on repeat, and it's still one of my favorite songs of 2010. So you can imagine my alegria (Portuguese for happiness) when I ran across it again on CSS' blog. The song is new and improved in video form.

Darn I Missed Them: TOO MANY TO LIST

(Actually, too many to list would be an OK band name.)

On Monday, June 14, 2010 something amazing happened. I would think it was even more amazing if I spoke Swedish. But it definitely looks amazing:

"Maskinen och Mash up international har lyckats samla den största delen av baile & kuduro-eliten för att få till en kväll som närmast kan beskrivas som kaotisk. det kommer bli som en brasiliansk favela nete på strömparterren och även om det inte går att dansa med vapen i sverige kommer det här bli en explosiv kväll."

Google translates that as:

"The machine and Mash Up International has managed to collect most of the baile & kuduro-elites to get to an evening that can best be described as chaotic. it will be like a Brazilian favela Nete on parterre and even if you can not dance with weapons in Sweden will this be an explosive evening."

So, yes. It looks good. Chaos, Brazil, weapons, explosions - all ingredients I want in a big party. And that's what Strömparterren - Love Stockholm 2010 looks like. A big party. With some really good bands. For only 80 kroner or 120 kroner (again, I can't read Swedish) - only $10 or $15! (Yes! recession and dollar being worth more?)

Brazil on my Mind

I am obsessed. It's official. I can't decide if it's because Portuguese is such a sexy language or because Brazilians are so freaking weird. I have an inkling it's a little of both, but mostly the latter. Case in point: CSS' blog.

If you want a daily dose of weird that's the place to go. I honestly think it's weird in a good way. I especially like Lovefoxxx's (of course) posts. This one about the suitcase gets me every time.

OK, forget all of the above babble. That was really just a tangent I swerved off on. The real reason I'm writing is because I found the song "Pela'o" (Crookers Remix) by Isa and a video to match. It's pretty good. I really only like it because it's Brazilian. You can judge for yourself too.

(Another side note: I found it by going to Marina Gasolina's blog from CSS'...and now it's more obvious how my brain works. What's on my mindgrapes!)
